I'M SORRY SHINY NEW STORY IDEA, I CAN'T WRITE YOU BECAUSE I'M CURRENTLY WRITING SOMETHING ELSE!

This is why the dream of the full-time-stay-at-home-writer is so great. Because then there would be enough time in the day to meet your word count for your WIP, edit your completed manuscript, query agents, research the most random "need-to-know" things (latest research: the differences between the left and right side of the brain), and START NEW MANUSCRIPTS!
I really wish I could share my idea with you, at LEAST that would be somewhat satiating, BUT it's currently a sekrit.
Will try to distract myself by FULFILLING FRIENDS WITH DEATH word count and buying books. I am srsly struggling with my first-person voice. Before I change my mind and re-write to 3rd person, I'm going to read some first-person YA authors and try to learn from them.

I feel your pain. I have an idea hanging out in the wings, and its in a completely different genre from my current WIP, and I have so far refrained from touching it so that I can keep to my words per day schedule. But damn that monkey keeps jumping on my back begging for attention.
LOL! I have that problem all the time. It's especially bad now because I'm just finishing my revisions (well, I hope they're nearly finished!) and am nearly ready to start on something new. So of course, every idea I've every had is fighting for me to focus on them next.

Maybe you can give the monkey a BANANA - jot down a couple sentences here and there. I don't want to stunt any creativity!
I've noticed that a lot of successful authors are wonderful at multitasking - editing and working on multiple work-in-progresses all at the same time. I'm trying to master that skill. I'm taking baby steps though, and am only working on one WIP instead of two (while editing my first ms and reading up on the genre).

I don't know how many times I've "completed" revisions. Every time I think I'm done, I can always, always find something to improve a couple days later. I think it's a neverending process!
I think that's so cool that every story idea you ever had is fighting for your attention! We wouldn't write if it wasn't exciting and that sounds super exciting. I say try writing a first page for all those ideas, then you'll know which 2nd page you most want to write!

BTW I'm a working-at-home full time author trying to work on two projects at once and I'm finding it almost impossible. Even tho the new project is kewler than the one I'm currently shopping around.
I get a new novel idea at least once a week: "Get in line, buddy!"
